All things natural

"How would it feel like to prostrate to the magnificence of God surrounding you?"

God must have thought it was a good joke to play on me when He chose Singapore to be my birth country for He must have known my thirst for all things natural. What could be more worse than to deprive me of godly beauty than to put me smack in 365 km2 of land of 4 million people where all things natural seem to have lost their place?

I do not understand myself. For each time I see God's creations I become awed and will be content to just sit there and drink in the glory like a a narcotic would when he finds heroin in his detox chamber.

We hiked about 6.5 km the first day at Wilson's Prom to Squeaky Beach and Tidal Overlook, taking a short and dangerous detour down the rocks (because Bal who enjoys taking risks insisted so :p ) to bask in the awesome sunny weather at the rocks.

As always when surrounded by all things natural, one thought came to mind. How can one not want to come here everyday and immerse oneself in the beauty of God?

One would call me extremely spiritual but it is beyond my understanding why some take in beauty so easily while I become awestruck to silence.

We camped later at night at 5th Avenue and had tandoori rice and chicken for dinner with chocolate pudding courtesy of Bal's prized portable stove.

We were awakened by the sound of the kookaburras at 5.30am and my common sense must have deserted me when I decided to take a shower in the morning. It was bloody freezing.

We hiked up Lilly Pilly Gully first before commencing the long climb up Mount Bishop. Being seriously physically inactive for the last three years, the climb up was not something I thought I would be capable of.

A sense of determination overtook me however and I repeated to myself over and over again, "I will not stop until I reach the top." From then on I was relentless and pushed myself, even running up the steep slopes for I knew if I stopped, exhaustion would hit me and slow me down.

Just before the summit, we came to a flat clearing of rocks that overlooked the Tidal River and Mount Obron. I collapsed on the ground as the view overwhelmed me. For the few minutes before Bal and Mel arrived, I was alone.

Alone, high up in the mountain, with a canvas no artist could possibly paint with justice.

It was just me and the world.

How would it feel like to kneel down in prayer atop this rock that stood so high and proud? How would it feel like to prostrate to the magnificence of God surrounding you?

Each of your heartbeat synchronising with the beat of Godly nature.

Finally we reached the summit of Mount Bishop. I climbed up the safest rock I could find. I must have been high with adrenaline to do so, for when I finally stood up on the rock and looked down at the steep drop beneath me, I was standing on top of the world. I was feeling exactly like Liz Bennet in Pride and Prejudice when she stood on that cliff hanger with her arms spread open and the cold wind blowing through her hair.

Absolute joy.

It didn't matter that it wasn't the highest peak at Wilson's or Mount Everest. It was just pure elation and immense satisfaction after going through that long hike to be standing up there and be rewarded with such a view.

We climbed and hiked a total of 10.4 km that morning.

There are many godly wonders in this world. Be it just the sea and its crashing waves, the peak of a simple mountain, the winding river through the bushland, the lone wallabie staring wide eyed at us in the hills or the red sky at the break of dawn; one thing stood in common -

It was untouched by Man. That you could be certain that a thousand years ago, it pretty much looked the same.

We only have to look around to see that much around us is Man-made. The higher Man build their buildings, the more self-serving and godly they become.

They forget to take a moment and find even higher peaks. Not by helicopter or car or plane; but by foot, the one all natural transport God gave Man to find the greater things in life that would humble and crush them.

Forpictures.

If I were a writer, I could write all day. But I would not find an ending.

If I were a painter, I could paint all day. And still not find the picture.

And if I were a singer, I could sing all day for that one song that said it all.

But it does not exist.

And if I were a mere human, and yes I am.

I would drink it all in to nourish my soul.

And still,

I would be parched for more.

You humble me, Munirah. Your view of it all, it makes it all even more breathtaking than the scenery alone afforded me before.

yo...yep its definite worth the trip back girl. in fact make sure you stay there for a few days..but be prepared to rough it out though. some areas of wilson's prom can only be accessed by foot and may take more than a day to reach. so you might need to rough it out in the mountains overnight (and plenty of hikers do) before going on again the next day. and not too worry the park has pretty safe trails thru the mountains. however the area i went too which is tidal river is quitebaccessible and they have some pretty good trails there too that don't take the whole day to finish.

i should also add that tidal river has excellent toilets with hot showers! best time to go to wilson's would be early or late summer. spring is good too. winter at wilson's gets pretty cold!
