Suits are not me

My family returned safely home from umrah, Alhamdulillah. I'm trying to imagine my little niece and nephews running around Mecca in their cute outfits. According to my mak, my brother-in-law strapped Faheem to his chest while doing his umrah. Very cute. And all the orang Arab there were like fascinated with my nephew! I can soo imagine. He is sooo tembam and cute, I feel like eating him sometimes.

I was offered another casual job by my current employer. I am very tempted to take it up. More money means I can buy that $220 bag I saw at Southland. But I'm not sure if I am taking on too much.

Been to three interviews so far:

BNDG - "Can you cook for yourself?" the rationale behind this question was that some interns have a very poor diet because they are not able to cook for themselves once they move out here. It's not just cooking though; it's finding the time to go grocery shopping, putting a meal together efficiently and getting sufficient sleep before starting the next day. Unfortunately this hospital is not my first choice and they knew that. Worth a try anyway.

ESTRN - This was a group interview of about 8 of us. I was disappointed we were all from the same university. It would have been nice to have students from other universities. It would have made the group dynamics more interesting.

WSTRN - This was by far my best interview. It was one on one and the doctor was really nice. The cafe has like gorgeous sofas and there was this nurse who kept smiling at me. I felt instantly welcomed when I stepped into the hospital. I like the feel of the place - predominantly in an area where refugees and migrants live, it is intensely multi-cultural. There are many Halal cuisines. The hospital has a down-to-earth kinda of look and the newsletter has 8 languages printed on the same edition. I'm tempted by the residents' room - it is on the top floor and opens to the roof top! The only drawback is whether I am willing to move up to this side of the city.

We started chatting to this student from that clinical school. He was telling us how the hospital had a separate interview day for everyone from that clinical school. No need to be even shortlisted! And here, students are stressing about writing the perfect cover letter to get shorlisted! The whole info night now seems so pretentious.

Most of the students turned up in power suits, even the girls. I felt a bit underdressed but everyone wanted to err on the side of suits. I don't own a suit and I tried on a few suit jackets in the city. Suits definitely do not suit me. I guess I just have to wear my power shoes then.

I've got two more group interviews and one individual interview to go. And if I don't hear from The hospital, I'll then decide the order of my preferences proper.

Amidst all of these, we actually do have an exam next week. Hmm. I guess I should start revising.
