'Money'

There were several occasions when I had raised this topic with friends. The concept of money in our society. I always found it interesting how we never see the money we spend. We use plastic cards, punch in numbers online and pay for transactions without actually physically seeing the exchange of value.

I once had a heated discussion about interest with a friend. I felt that interest today, more than ever, is deepening the divide between the poorest nations and richest nations.

My parents are both quite schooled in the topics of economics - my dad being an economist/ex- stock broker/now real-estate agent and my mom previously used to work as a full-time financial controller of a conglomerate/ now part-time warong owner and real-estate agent.

I never studied economics but in my simple mind - I felt the concept of making money from money didn't make sense. I could never argue my points eloquently though.

Given the current situation - I think more than ever, one should give some thought to where our money really comes from. This video that a friend posted up on FB - I had really enjoyed it although it left me with a sense of dread.

It will take 47 minutes of your time. But given that the current situation in US has the potential to affect us all, especially since our economy is quite heavily linked with the US, it just maybe worth spending the time to give some thought to the monetary system in our world today.
