A better way
I think more than ever we should think about what we are really protesting for and why. Before declaring affiliations and joining the bandwagon, one should ask what are we really trying to achieve?
It is a great injustice to be so absolute in such a situation. Do you really know enough? Have you read about it in depth? Have you travelled there? Have you lived in the situation? Have you heard first hand from both sides? Does evil really have a religion or a race? Should numbers be the influencing factor when the numbers involve human lives?
Statements that clearly contradict a message of peace are ineffective and are without grace and will only fan the fire. There is no peace in wishing for peace for only one people - it will never work.
I rather not take sides or join factions or declare something that I clearly have no right to give judgement upon, as I am not educated enough about these issues, and frankly I do not see how saying very offensive things make the situation better.
I am sure we are more civilised than that and we have been taught to be better. To take a recent example, throwing a shoe at someone you hate may make your point and amuse most people. I do admit it was a little amusing initially but I felt ashamed of it soon after. Because that person is someone's father, someone's son, someone's brother and someone's husband.
Let's not sink lower but rise above.
There must be a better way.
