Dr ICARE

Starting with night shifts this week 11pm - 9am. I'm so glad I live 5 minutes away. I was reading some of my notes from final year when I came across these snippets.

On enoxaparin,

The main advantage to enoxaparin: its dosing is quite simple to remember (though it is surprising how many people struggle to multiply the weight by 1!). It is absolutely imperative that before the dose is prescribed, the patient is weighed. It is well-known that doctors cannot accurately guess the patient's weight. (Does this DVT make me look fat?)

On warfarin,

Warfarin is not the ideal drug for long term anti-coagulation because as if it is not bad enough that it makes you bleed, its effect varies according to other drugs, food, disease states, and sometimes it would appear, the position of Saturn in the quadrant of Virgo.

I'm sure these jokes will come back to haunt me.
